On this page
This policy explains what personal data the operators of cryptocurrency.irish ("we", "us") handle when you use the site, and what rights you have. We have tried to keep it short and in plain English. It was last updated on 5 October 2026.
The short version
- You do not need an account to read the site, and we do not offer one.
- At the time of writing, we do not run analytics and we do not set tracking or advertising cookies.
- Fonts are hosted by us, so your browser does not call a font provider to display the site.
- The tax calculator runs in your browser. What you type into it is not sent to us.
- Our hosting provider keeps ordinary server logs.
- If you email us, we use what you send to reply.
- Links to other sites take you away from this policy.
What we collect
Nothing through the pages themselves. The site is a set of static pages. There are no sign-up forms, comment sections or newsletters at the time of writing, so we do not collect names, email addresses or payment details through the site.
Server logs. Whenever you load a page, the server that hosts the site, run by our hosting provider, normally records technical information such as your IP address, the time of the request, the page requested, your browser type and the referring page. This is standard for any website. We use the logs, if we look at them at all, for security and to fix technical faults. We do not use them to identify you or build a profile of you. The hosting provider has its own retention periods and privacy terms, and we do not control them.
Cookies and similar technologies. We do not set analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. If we add analytics or any non-essential cookies in future, we will update this policy first and, where the law requires, ask for your consent before they run.
The calculator. The crypto tax calculator works out its estimate in your browser using the numbers you type. It does not send those figures to us or to anyone else. We cannot see them. If you close the page, they are gone unless your browser autofills them.
Email correspondence
If you write to contact@cryptocurrency.irish, we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach. We use it to read and reply to your message, to correct or improve the site, and to keep a record of corrections we have made. Our email may be handled by an email service provider acting on our behalf. We will not add you to a mailing list without asking. Please do not send us sensitive information such as passwords, seed phrases, bank details or PPS numbers, and do not send anything you would not want to be read. We will not ask for any of those.
We keep correspondence for as long as it is useful to deal with your message and for a reasonable period afterwards, for example to refer to a correction. If you would like us to delete an email thread, ask us.
Legal bases
Under the GDPR, we process the limited data above on the basis of our legitimate interests in running a secure website and replying to people who contact us, and, where you email us with a request, to respond to that request. We do not sell personal data. We do not use it for automated decision-making.
Links to other sites
Many pages link to third-party sites, including regulators, government bodies, exchanges and wallet providers. When you click through, that site collects data under its own privacy policy and cookies, and we have no control over it. A link is not a recommendation. Please read the policy of any site before you give it personal information. Providers of crypto services will ask for substantial identity information as part of their legal checks, and what they do with it is their responsibility.
Sharing your data
We do not share personal data with anyone for marketing. Data may be accessible to our hosting provider and email provider because they process it for us. We may disclose information where the law requires it, for example in response to a lawful request from the authorities.
Where providers process data outside the European Economic Area, they should rely on a lawful transfer mechanism such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision. We have not listed each provider here.
Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to ask us to:
- tell you whether we hold personal data about you and give you a copy;
- correct data that is wrong;
- delete your data in certain circumstances;
- restrict or object to our processing; and
- move data you gave us to another service, where that applies.
You can exercise these rights by emailing contact@cryptocurrency.irish. We may need to confirm who you are first. Because we hold so little data, the honest answer will often be that we hold only your email correspondence.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your data, you have the right to complain to the Data Protection Commission, Ireland's data protection authority (see also the European Data Protection Board). We would appreciate the chance to put things right first, but you do not have to contact us before complaining.
Children
The site is written for adults and is not directed at children. If you want to see how we handle regulation and risk topics, our disclaimer is a good next read.
Changes
If we change this policy, for example by adding analytics, we will update the date at the top and describe what changed. Please check back from time to time.
Contact
